CRAB was founded on the principle that people with intellectual and developmental disabilities can and should be able to live fulfilling and joyful lives and have equitable access to meaningful therapeutic recreation. It's exciting to the FCIDD that CRAB provides programming for several FCIDD partner organizations: Langton Green and Bello Machre among them!
CRAB programs provide full access to the Chesapeake Bay through innovative safety equipment and programs, making recreational adventures enjoyable for everyone. They partner with the State of Maryland, Anne Arundel County, and the City of Annapolis to operate the Adaptive Boating Center (ABC), promoting accessible recreation that has gained national media attention.
Changing Lives One Sail at a Time

As a leading provider of therapeutic sailing and boating, CRAB offers services free of charge.
In 2024, we launched seven new programs, increasing our capacity by 50% and reaching 1,800 individuals, 65% of whom identify as having a disability, and the other 35% are their family members and caregivers.
Maintaining a 100% safety record is crucial, given our diverse range of guests and programs. We prioritize safety by investing in new equipment and protocols.

For those not interested in actually being on the water, our growing radio-controlled sailing program can accommodate being near but not on the water, CRAB ensures the availability of temporary physical barriers and a range of flotation devices.

Though we have never had an incident, we rigorously developed emergency response protocols and equipped the ABC with first aid units, ensuring immediate support for guests in need.
Thanks to the $13,536.32 grant provided last Spring by the Foundation and sponsored by the Annapolis Civitan Club, we were able to upgrade our safety protocols and equipment.
