The deadline for Civitan clubs to submit their Participating Club grant applications for FY25 is almost upon us, as is the registration for FY26 Participating Club. We are excited for the local nonprofits who are benefitting from this new funding program at the FCIDD, and want to ensure everyone has an opportunity to make possibilities happen. Participating Civitan clubs benefit by being able to access all the grant programs from the Foundation.

Congratulations to the Capital Region Civitan Club on their successful submission of a Participating Grant to benefit the Autism Society Greater Harrisburg Area.  The Association used those funds for immediate need in a priority area, and they are grateful for the unrestricted nature of the grant.

The mission of the Autism Society Greater Harrisburg Area is to create connections, empowering everyone in the Autism community with the resources needed to live fully. They promote opportunities for individuals with Autism to participate in the same valued life experience as other citizens do.

Congratulations to the Thomas Jefferson Civitan Club for their support of a participating club grant to the Arc of Augusta County.  FCIDD has a very special place in its heart for the Arc of the US, as the Arc had a profound impact on the young life of Tommy McNulty, IV in Baltimore, Maryland.

The Arc of Augusta, Inc. is a non-profit organization dedicated to serving individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (IDD) in Waynesboro, Staunton,

and greater Augusta County since 1960. They are a local chapter of the Arc of the US, a national network.

Originally focused on advocacy, The Arc collaborates with other chapters across Virginia and the United States to champion the civil and human rights of individuals with developmental disorders. Over the past 50 years, our chapter has evolved significantly, growing from a small group of parents advocating for their children to operating a school (prior to the establishment of special education in public schools), organizing summer camps, day programs, and becoming a prominent voice in local and state government. The Arc of Augusta has a proud history and an even brighter future!
