FCIDD Participating Civitan Clubs Carry on a Long Tradition with the FCIDD

The FCIDD partners with local Civitan clubs, which register annually as Participating Clubs. Each club appoints a member as the FCIDD Club Representative, who joins our Board of Directors alongside the Executive Committee officers and past Presidents. Open to any club in our 15-state region, we currently have 19 clubs supporting us by attending Board meetings, guiding local nonprofits to our Project Grant Submission portal, and sponsoring their applications.
These clubs enjoy the opportunities for both project and club grants, and we have seen an uptick in $500 New Member grants (meaning new club members) from the local nonprofits that clubs have sponsored to the Foundation, which means increased club membership! Win-Win!
Annual grants of $2000 for local nonprofits are one of the many benefits of becoming an FCIDD particpating club - and time runs short for those grant submissions. Deadline for FY26 is September 28, 2026 to be claimed for this fiscal year. (August 28, 2026 for the September EC meeting approval.)
See our post about the first set of clubs to receive their club grants of $2000 early in the fiscal year. Congratulations to the next three clubs who have completed their grant for this year and to their partnering beneficiary nonprofits:
Fairfax supported a $2000 grant for Gabriel Homes, established in June 1982. Their founders had, at the time, a radical idea that adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities could live independently. Based on the living skills residents learned from their families, they have stepped in to help make the dreams of independent living a reality.
Greater Silver Spring supported The Arc Montgomery County, a nonprofit that connects people of all ages and abilities with their communities to build inclusive and fulfilling lives.
Smith Mountain Lake supported CraveABLEs. Changing lives, one scoop at a time!
CraveABLEs is an ice cream shop that provides supported employment for people with intellectual disabilities.
We look forward to submissions from other Participating Clubs before the end of the fiscal year!
