The Foundation for Children with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (FCIDD) exists to support research, projects, education, inclusion and advocacy to enhance the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In its 78 year history, it has impacted countless individuals and organizations in the geographic region it serves as well through the research it supports at the University of Alabama Birmingham's CIRC.

Keeping it all running smoothly and efficiently is President, Mirza Donegan. She has held the position since FY24, taking the reins during an important transition time as an Executive Director was hired and grant and office systems computerized. Under Mirza's tenure, with the steadfast support of her executive committee, the Foundation has stepped smartly in to the 21st century.

As a child of a military family, Mirza spent her longest time growing up at Fort Sam Houston, in San Antonio, Texas. She was recruited to the foundation by Patricia Koepsel, a fact of which she remains proud. A member of the Greater Silver Spring Civitan club, Mirza is most proud of that we stand behind our tag line: "Making Possibilities Happen" through local, innovative project grants and research support. "Working with the dedicated volunteers and staff to make the hard decisions and change lives, it's the best!!"
