Spring Cycle Program Grants Awarded

We are excited to announce six successful grant submissions for our Spring (March 1) Cycle. These grants were reviewed and approved by volunteers on our Grants and Executive Committees, and the Board of Directors.


Read on to learn more about our new grantees and their life-giving programs for the IDD community.


Working together, we can accomplish so much more than on our own.

FCIDD is proud to "make possibilities happen" for the following nonprofit partners. In total in this cycle the foundation granted over $165,000 to six nonprofits, with grants ranging from $10,000-$44,000. To date, with our Fall cycle grants, the Foundation has distributed more than $225,000. in the community to date. The final grant cycle deadline for this fiscal year is July 1, 2025.


Arc Montgomery County $15,689.84


The Arc Montgomery County is dedicated to fostering inclusion for people of all abilities. It operates six core programs supporting individuals with IDD across all stages of life. The Arc's Karasik Family Infant Child Care Center (KFICCC) serves as a beacon of inclusive education. Sponsored by the Silver Spring Civitan club, this grant will renovate the center's Activity Room/Gym with equipment that enables group activities accommodating various ability levels.


Arc Prince George's County $35,869.00


The Arc Prince George’s County (The Arc) was founded in 1952 by a group of parents of children with developmental disabilities.  Its mission is to provide a lifetime of support, understanding, and opportunities for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and their families.  Their request for funds was for an internet safety training program to build on The Arc PGC's Project LIVE mental health initiative.  The program will enable the Arc PGC to deliver  specialized mental health and internet safety training to mental health professionals, educators, caregivers, first responders and self-advocates throughout the state of Maryland. Training will be a mix of in-person and virtual that together will consist of almost 80 hours of training/education.  The evaluation tools will allow us to analyze the impact of this work with the use of surveys and data tracking. 



Fried Center for the Advancement of Potential (FCAP) $34,976.22

Fried Center for the Advancement of Potential, a non-profit in Crozet, Virginia, provides personalized fitness programs for adults with IDD, primarly serving residents of Innisfree Village, a life-sharing community. Sponsored by the Thomas Jefferson Civitan Club, this grant provides for updated exercise and evaluation equipment, enabling the expansion of their mission. Funds used will expand FCAP's reach and impact health of adults with IDD in the Crozet and Charlottesville areas.


Children's Assistive Technology Services, Inc. (C.A.T.S.) $44,000.00


Childrens' Assistive Technology Services, Inc. provides no cost adaptive mobility and communication equipment to children with physical, neurological, and developmental disabilities to allow and encourage connection and independence. With the sponsorship of the Smith Mountain Lake Civitan Club, FCIDD is assisting CATS with technology adancements to the infrastucture allowsing CATS to expand access, improve delivery services and streamline operations.


Occupational Services, Inc. $28,488.00

Occupational Services, Inc. provides a variety of vocational services to individuals in Fulton and Franklin Counties, in Pennsylvania. They transport individuals with intellectual disabilities, both youth and adult, to paid work experiences . With sponsorship by the Chambersburg Area Civitan Club, OSI applied and was granted funding to replace a 25 year old transport van, one of a fleet of 20 aging vehicles used to transport individuals to and from work.


Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum $10,250.00


The Shenandoah Valley Discovery Museum's mission is to spark curiosity and inspire learning through exploration and play. They saw a need for a sensory room and with the sponsorship support of Northern Shenandoah Valley Civitan Club, Stars and Stories: Soar into Silence will be born. Designed with a strong calming focus in a darkened environment with quiet activities, it will be the perfect spot for parent/child decompression from overstimulation.
