National Disability Employment Awareness Month and FCIDD Workforce Contributions
October 2026 commemorates 81 years of advancements in the workforce and the contributions made by individuals with disabilities to the American economy. It is a moment to celebrate, reflect, and consider the future work that remains. FCIDD takes great pride in acknowledging some of the numerous nonprofit project and club grants awarded to organizations that train, educate and employ people with disabilities.
Two of our newest partners are Carroll Community Bike Works in West Minster, Maryland. This start-up repairs bikes for the less fortunate, and is working with the Arc Montgomery County and several other businesses to employ and train those with IDD to repair the bikes, and received a $15,000 project grant from FCIDD to aid in their outreach and education.
The Community College of Baltimore County recently received $37,500.00 in scholarships for students in their workforce readiness programs. These programs are designed for those with learning differences, developmental disabilities, and cognitive challenges.
And a long-time partner, Our Dream Pursuits, recently received a $2000.00 participating club grant from the Potomac Valley Family Participating Club.
81 years, yet there's more to do. Together, we continue to make possibilities happen for those who manage life differently. Thank you for the part you play by your support of the FCIDD.
