Funding Priorities:
FCIDD accepts grant requests in partnership with FCIDD Participating Clubs of 501 c3 organizations supporting children/adults who are intellectually and/or developmentally disabled. Research is funded solely through annual gifts to the Civitan International Research Center (CIRC) in Birmingham, Alabama. Each year, a research project and scientist from CIRC's cadre of scientists is selected as a McNulty Scientist at CIRC.
Eligibility:
Applications by IRS approved 501 c 3 mission-appropriate organizations must be submitted in partnership with a local FCIDD Participating Club, which are listed below.
All documentation and requirements on grant application must be met in order for consideration by the grants committee.
Grant Submission dates are March 1, July 1, and October 1, 2024 by 5:00 p.m.
Application Process
Any Civitan Club, recognized by Civitan International, and located in the States of Connecticut, Delaware, District of Colombia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, or West Virginia, regardless of what Region the Club may be assigned to by Civitan International, must apply annually to participate in the Foundation. These Clubs shall be referred to as “FCIDD Participating Clubs.”

Complete application and provide all documentation requested electronically
Ensure sign-off by all necessary signatures (club and org) before submitting no later than 5:00 p.m. on the date due.
All grant applications must come through your local Civitan Club.

Some 2023 Grant Updates
Thomas Jefferson Civitan Club
The ARC of the Piedmont received $29,670 to complete the renovation of their art studio, which is a hub for individuals living in one of their 5 group homes or involved in their day programming.
Civitan Clubs of Greater Silver Spring and Dayton Partner for Good!
The Greater Silver Spring, Maryland and Dayton, Ohio Civitan clubs partnered to benefit United Rehabilitation Services of Greater Dayton who serve over 1000 infants, children, adults, and seniors annually. The $15,688 grant’s purpose was the purchase of two new pieces of upgraded special needs childcare playground equipment to enhance an area not upgraded since 2016. The pieces included a Hoopla Swing and a Hive Climber, equipment that will help children with disabilities to increase motor skills, coordination, balance, and strength. Both items will increase accessibility & create a more inclusive environment for youth enrolled in their programs. CEO Dennis Grant is grateful for the opportunity to enhance the lives of clients and looks forward to sending us photos in April 2024 when the project is completed!
Annapolis Civitan Club
Langdon Green Residential has a mission to continue to help people with I/DD live with the highest possible degree of independence & quality of life. Their grant of $16,000 provided patio furniture for 47 of their Annapolis residents.
Capital Region Civitan Club
Vision Resources in Central Pennsylvania facilitates independence, enriches the quality of life & empowers individuals who are blind or visually impaired and have other disabilities. The agency has served the community for 100 years, and their grant sought to replace the computer system for Vision Resources, which they term “ancient”. Their computer systems (hardware including computers, monitors, remote accessibility, servers, & network room switches) are the originals from the first foray into technology. The grant totaled $39,849 and was sponsored by the Capital Region Civitan Club.
The Peninsula Civitan Club
Sponsored a grant request to support their PEATC (Parent Youth Empowerment Summit).$37,200 was provided as a grant to ensure this training event, which serves as an educational respite for parents and children in the I/DD community would be purposeful and successful. Expert speakers/trainers provided training courses to help adults and youth learn skills to ensure future success in education, employment, and independent living.
Civitan Club of the Berkshires
The Berkshire County ARC manages 44 residential homes for people with brain injury or developmental disabilities. BCArc also runs employment programs, daytime Centers, family support, and more. The Day Program, Social Development Center (SDC), in Pittsfield was in need of a van of their own to take their clients on day trips. They enjoy going to museums, art classes, shopping, going out to lunch, volunteering at Habitat for Humanity and visiting a nearby paved rail trail. The grant totaled $30,900 for a RWD van to increase transportation opportunities for clients at the Berkshires County ARC.
